Frequently asked questions
What are your cases made out of ?
Our cases are made with urathane resin. They are chip, impact, and scratch resistant. They are UV protected as well.
Will the color fade or scratch off ?
No, the resin itself is colored so the color goes all the way through.
Are the mats really brass ?
No, the mats are made from the same resin as the cases. The color comes from metal powder that is added to the resin. Unlike the cases, the mat color is a layer that is on top, fully bonded to the resin.
Will my image fit ?
Our cases are made to very specific sizes to fit the original images that were made in the 1800's. We measured original cases, not only the inside case dimentions, but the pinch pad thickness as well. I have put many original images in our cases to make sure they fit. If you have a modern image made by a modern wet plate artist this might be a little tougher. While some modern wet plate photographers shoot plates the same size as original image sizes, some shoot more modern size plates. 4x5 or 5x7 are modern sizes and we do not offer cases for those size images.
How long will my order take to arrive ?
Every case is made by hand. Most of the time your case is made when you place an order. All orders are filled in the order we receive them. We do get larger orders of 10 or more cases. The summer months we get busy. Put all that together and shipping times can be from two to six weeks. We do our best to get your order out as soon as we can. If you are in a rush or have a deadline, please ask about shipping time when you place an order so we can give you an idea of how busy we are.
